Security and safety

Every Shepherds home is a home, not a hotel lobby, and many are shared: rooms in a 4BHK, a 7BHK or a duplex, with neighbours in the same building. These rules keep everyone safe, and they are the same for every guest. The security team at the gate and our caretakers follow them exactly. They are only doing their job, so please help them do it.

At the gate: what security checks

Entry is only for guests with a confirmed, prepaid booking. Please have ready:

  • Your booking confirmation: our written confirmation for direct stays, or the Airbnb or Booking.com booking confirmation (voucher) on your phone.
  • The original photo ID of every adult on the booking: Aadhaar, passport, driving licence or voter ID. Foreign guests: passport and visa.

The names must match the booking. Security may note your name, phone number and time of arrival in the gate register, as the society requires.

Prepaid only. Direct stays are paid in full before arrival; Airbnb and Booking.com stays are paid on the platform. Nobody can pay at the gate or to staff, and nobody can be checked in without a confirmed booking, past guests included. If something doesn't match, security will call us before letting anyone in; this takes a few minutes.

Shared homes and co-living

  • Your room is yours: only you enter it, and our staff on duty only with notice, except in an emergency.
  • Kitchens, living rooms and balconies are shared with the other guests in the home. Keep them as you found them.
  • Quiet after 11 PM. Keep the main door and gates closed behind you.
  • Rooms for women and families are kept for them. Please respect the room types on the booking.
  • Keep valuables in your room. Report anything lost, damaged or worrying to the caretaker right away.
  • Cameras, where a home has them, cover only entrances and outside areas, never rooms or bathrooms, as Airbnb requires.

Visitors and deliveries

  • We don't host visitors: only the guests named on the booking enter the home. Children and close family are welcome if named on the booking and counted in the guest numbers.
  • Meet friends in common areas outside the home, such as the society lobby or a café nearby.
  • Deliveries and cabs are met at the gate or the door. Delivery staff don't enter rooms.
  • Vendors and repair staff enter only when we send them, and the caretaker logs them in.

In an emergency

  • Call 112 (police, fire, ambulance), then your caretaker or host.
  • Know your exits. Don't block doors, corridors or stairs.
  • Report smoke, a gas smell, water leaks or a stranger in the home to the caretaker immediately.

What we do

  • We verify every adult's ID before check-in and share the door code only after.
  • The door code is set for your stay only and removed at check-out.
  • Every arrival, visitor or vendor is recorded by our staff.
  • We file Form C for foreign guests, as Indian law requires.
